Our SaaS platform, SONAR provides data and analytics to participants in the freight market. We are looking for an Freight Markets Reporter. This individual will write market news and market assessments, covering specific modes in the transportation sector and cover deals, price movements and market news.

You will apply and develop your skills across daily news reporting, market analysis, features and editorial with the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity. There are opportunities to travel and present papers at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.

What You'll Do:

  • Monitor and assess markets to produce daily price assessments, market analysis, news and reports

  • Daily contact with freight brokers, carriers, shippers, vendors, investors, and analysts

  • Focus on various freight modes, including truck, rail, air, maritime, and warehousing

  • Contribute copy to relevant publications and the online news service

  • Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent FreightWaves

  • Publish 5 articles per week focused on freight companies and business news

  • Discuss trends and markets impacts due to regulation, technology, and macro economic trends

  • Report of quarterly earnings reports and breaking news from the commercial fleet sector

  • Feature companies that secure funding from investors

  • Research articles through fact-checking and other industry resources

  • Personally and through the team and other company resources, create data and insights content that is published on

  • Write research/commentary to showcase our unique insights to readers through articles


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor degree in english, journalism, economics, business, or a related area.

  • Ability to assimilate large amounts of information and data and create a compelling story supported by the facts

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Deep knowledge of emerging technology trends and applications

  • A passion for the unique story

  • Ability to partner with individuals and groups from multiple functions and organizations, especially ability to collaborate with other analysts

  • Ability to convey difficult subjects to ideas and sound bites that the average lay person can understand and attract media attention

  • Ability to “truckify” technology
